Hearing Loss Nerve Deafness
Diabetes and hearing loss?
Is there a correlation between diabetes and loss hearing? I was a diabetic for 10 years before diagnosis. Have you been diagnosed six years with type 1 diabetes. I've been told I need hearing aids because the nerves in my ears are not conducting sound properly. They say I'm too young for this type of deafness! I have a blood glucose meter and use it. My question is whether there is a possibility that my deafness is associated with diabetes as I am too young to have this type of hearing loss? Sorry, should have said, I'm on insulin Hypurine swine, fast and slow action! Not sure if that makes a difference! I do not want to change back to the artificial – I was hypoing up to 6 times a day! Now I have perhaps 5 a week!
Have you been on Metformin? If so, you should have your vitamin B12 levels checked. Metformin can destroy B12. Vitamin A deficiency B12 can disrupt nerve function. Studies in Japan and Russia showed that high doses of a particular type of B12, methylcobalamin, can regenerate nerves damaged. I used 30 mg / day for ten days and then 10-15 mg / day. It took a couple of months, but the nerves in my legs are normal, and has been for more than I've fallen for five months. Added @ 12 Have you been on a statin? Diabetics are often prescribed statins to lower cholesterol, but also prevent making body of CoQ10, which is necessary for nerve health.
