Hearing Aid Comparisons

My great-grandmother is nearing her 88th birthday, and her deafness has become more pronounced lately. She refuses to wear hearing aids because she hates that she can hear herself chew when she’s eating (guess she’s forgotten that most people CAN hear themselves chew). Since she lives alone, it’s not a huge problem until she wants to hold a conversation with someone. Then we all leave feeling frustrated and with sore throats from yelling.

I need a personal sound amplifier that will help when she’s talking to her neighbors or family. We’re looking to spend no more than . I’ve done some research, so I know there are different models and companies, but I need some feedback from people who have actually used these. Which is the best for amplifying conversations?
